Last Monday I posted a blog allowing you to ask me anything you wanted, here are the answers. If the answer isn’t satisfactory, then leave another comment and I will try to clarify!
- What would you name a girl? Before we knew Augustine was a boy, Shaun and I both loved the name Micah Elisabeth. Though I like the name Jane as a first name, and Shaun likes the name Elisabeth as a first name. So, I guess we will have to wait for a true decision until the Lord decides to bless us with a little girl.
- What do you like to do in your spare time? At present, my spare time consists of finishing up laundry (washing, hanging out to dry, putting it away), washing dishes by hand, vaccumming, prepping for dinner, getting a devotion in, or finishing up schoolwork for my marriage and family class. When these are accomplished, I enjoy writing postcards or emails to encourage people I care about; reading information to educate myself (topics like motherhood, how to be a better wife, encouraging blogs); listening to sermons; browsing facebook; cooking delicious healthy new recipes; drinking tea at a fun cafe or Starbucks; fellowshipping with friends; shopping at grocery stores (perhaps an odd pleasure, i know), or window shopping
How did you and Shaun meet? well… A professor (Dr. Alvin Reid) was heavily involved in my youth group growing up and influential in my choice of The College at Southeastern for undergraduate work. Every semester Dr. Reid has a small Bible Study which a few students he selects from various classes for the purpose of getting to know his students better in an atmosphere to encourage them to be godly leaders. Dr. Reid asked me to attend since it was my first semester at Southeastern as well as asking Shaun to attend, who was a second year master’s student at the time, as well as about 4 other students. I thought Shaun was aah-mazing. Though, being the practical and wise man that Shaun is, he felt that my young age (18) was a bit too much to pursue at that time (unbeknownst to me). Over the next year he watched my character and interaction with students and started to become more of a closer acquaintance at a new college ministry that developed at my church. He asked me to join him in a courtship on Decemeber 28, 2006. We dated for a year and a few months, and were married May 31st, 2008. and lived happily ever after…
Where do you get the inspiration for how you dress? ha! hmmm… I think I like to honor the priorities in place in this sermon (free download btw). Though I do not always follow that plan of righteousness as much as I would hope to. I try to find clothes that are fashionable enough to reflect that it is a newer style, yet classy enough to last years in my closet. [i.e. I am still wearing a khaki linen skirt from 6 years ago as the style is super fashionable, but it a common color and style to supercede several years]. I like to purchase clothes I know will last rather than cheaper options to get me through only a little while. [Every year the day after thanksgiving Banana Republic Outlet puts their entire store 50% off (which are already on good deals since it is an outlet store) then I use a coupon giving me an extra 15% off (these are always avaliable through the outlet mall books) and purchase clothes for the next year. Though an expensive store, I was finding really good prices this way]. I try to buy things in the off season so it is cheaper (i.e. buy winter clothes at the start of the summer; and summer clothes at the start of winter). I buy clothes that fit in my color palette and affirm the strengths of my figure (i.e. all women have strengths to their body type, select clothes that affirm these parts), I don’t purchase it unless I know it looks really good (besides who wants clothes that just look “ok” in their closet?). And I do not buy things that are immodest- it just isn’t worth it. Hope that helps!
What is your favorite book? hmmm…I like a lot, so I will list a few of my favorites. “Passion and Purity” by Elisabeth Elliot; “Created to be His Help Meet” by Debi Pearl; “Life Together” by Dietrich Bonhoeffer; “How to worship Jesus Christ” by Joseph S. Carroll; “The lies that Women believe and the truth that sets them free” by Nancy Leigh DeMoss; “Disciplines of a Godly Woman” by Barbara Hughes- those are just a few!
Your favorite movie? hmm… can I list a few again? Probably Roman Holiday (with Audrey Hepburn), Mr. Holland’s Opus, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Remember the Titans or Pride and Prejudice.
What is your best time of day (i.e. most productive, best mood, etc)? Probably more in the middle of the day or in the morning. It is really just whenever I set my mind to do something and the Lord enables me to do it! (Although I have a harder time working at night).
- What do you like most about Aberdeen so far? I love the relaxed culture, the castles, the option to have delievered groceries, our church, tea time, the access to walk everywhere, the snow.
Thanks for reading some about me!
